Spicy Mix Dal

Ingredients:   Method:
1/2 cup Whole green lentil sabut moong boiled
1/2 cup Black lentil kale urad ki dal boiled
1/2 cup Orange lentil masoor dal boiled
1 pinch asafoetida
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp Chopped garlic
2-3 Whole red chillies
2 tbsp Ghee/oil
Salt- to taste
1 small Chopped onion
1 tbsp Chopped raw mango or 1 tsp mango powder (amchoor)
2 tbsp Fresh cream or malai

1 tsp Garam masala powder
2 tbsp Chopped coriander

Wash and Soak the dals separately for 30 mins. in cold water. Boil them and keep aside.

For the tempering, heat ghee/oil in a pan. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds and fry until they crackle. Add the ginger, garlic and whole red chilies. Fry for a few seconds. Add the onions, fry until golden pink.

Add the boiled dals, raw mango, garam masala powder, salt to taste and mix well. Blend in the fresh cream. Simmer for 10 mins.

Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

Variations: Any one of the above dals could also be used to prepare the same recipe. Boiled kidney beans [rajma] tastes good in the above recipe too.
