Panchratna Dal

Ingredients:   Method:

1/4 cup urad dal

1/4 cup Chana dal

1/4 cup Arhar dal

1/4 cup Rajma

1/4 cup Lobia (black eye beans)

2 medium onions

2 tomatoes

2 tbsp ginger garlic paste

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp red chili powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2-3 cloves

2 cardamoms

1 small stick of cinnamon

1 pinch of asafoetida powder

1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

4 tbsp ghee

salt to taste

 
Wash and Soak the Lobia and rajma overnight. Wash all the dals and soak them for 30 mins.

Add salt, 3 cups of water and pressure cook them all of dals and rajma and Lobia till soft.

Meanwhile In another pan heat ghee and add cumin seeds and asafoetida powder.
Add cloves, cardamon and cinnamon and fry for 1 minute.

Add chopped onions and fry till golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste and fry again for 2 minutes.

Add chopped tomatoes and fry till ghee starts oozing out. Add chili powder and turmeric powder to it.

Put this gravy in the Dal and let the dal boil 2-3 times.

 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
