Aloo Tikki

4 - potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed
4 to 5 - green chilies chopped finely
5 cm. piece ginger, peeled, grated finely
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
3 to 4 pinches asafoetida
1 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
1/4 cup grated paneer
1/2 cup plain flour
1 cup fine breadcrumbs
salt to taste
oil to deep or shallow fry

Mix all ingredients for tikias, except oil,
plain flour, crumbs.
Make a thin batter of plain flour, keep aside till required.
Mix to form a smooth dough, take a small fist size portion
and shape into slightly flattened round.
Dip the tikki in plain flour batter and immediately roll in
bread crumbs, Deep or shallow (as per your choice) fry till
golden on both sides.
Serve hot with green chutney or sweet tamarind
chutney and yogurt.
