Kushmanda

The fourth aspect of Devi Durga is Kooshmanda. Devi Kooshmanda is worshipped on fourth day of Navratri. As she created Und or Brahmand (Universe) by her light laughter she is called Kushamanda. When the life didn't exist, there was darkness everywhere then this Devi by her happy laughter created the Universe. She lives in Solar Core. Only She is capable and strong enough to dwell in the Sun. Her aura and illumination of body is like Sun itself. Her aura could be compared to the Sun only. Any other divine being can not be compared to her. She illuminates all the ten directions. All the bodies and beings of Universe derive power from her. As has eight arms, so she is also known as Ashtbhuja Devi (meaning Devi with eight arms). In her seven hands she has Kamandalu, Dhanush (bow), Baan (arrow), lotus, Amritpurna Kalash, Chakra and Gada respectively, in her eighth hand she holds japmala which is the provider of all siddhis and nidhis.
