Shailputri
Goddess Of nature
On first day of Navaratri, Devi Shailaputri
is worshipped. Shailputri is Devi’s first aspect. She is the
goddess of nature. She is daughter of Himalaya. Her 2 hands,
display a trident and a lotus. She is mounted upon a bull.
She is the Goddess of Nature, she exhorts mankind to
maintain balance in nature and live in harmony with her.
Devi says that whatever is there in the world is because of
me, there is no matter or life which is not part of me. All
the energies of world converge into me. Lord Shiva is the
Lord of compassion and Devi Bhagwati spreads that compassion
among masses. Devi means illuminator, one who spreads
compassion and welfare. Shailputri is not worshipped alone
but with her consort Lord Shiva. Shiva and Shakti are not
different but one. all living beings are created by nature,
nurtured and destroyed by it. No one is different or distant
from nature. |
